Babbitty is a washerwoman in London, with a fiesty attitude and plenty of good humour. Mostly she can be found scrubbing the stains off garments in her wash room. She is head wash woman and normally keeps her laundry maids in shape, by setting a fine example. However she is not one to get on the wrong side of, and given she will make sure anyone who is stupid enough to cross her will learn a lesson, and all will be forgiven.
She often wears her heart on her sleeve and finds herself besotted before she realises what she's gotten herself into. Of course, the only remedy for a broken heart is to fantasize about a new one.
"Why do you think you are so careless with your heart?"
I am not careless with my heart, to be careless with something is to not give it sufficient attention to avoid harm. I can promise you I am I not careless with anything, unless it is the shirt of a man who has irked me. However, you cannot ask me the ways of my heart, since I simply cannot answer. I have always been a fool for love and I will never be able to tell you why.
"Do you like washing clothes for a living?"
Hmm, well I don’t really mind it. I enjoy helping people get rid of tough stains, and the idle chatter that happens in my usual day-to-day. I’d much rather be a washerwoman than a snobby old bat.
"Are you in love? Have you ever been in love?"
I am currently not in love, although I have been in love before, yes.
"Are you proud of yourself?"
Am I proud of myself? Why shouldn’t I be proud of myself. I believe that I have come a long way, and there is certainly the feeling of accomplishment when I remove a few stains from the numerous garments I scrub. However, I do not understand the full nature of this question. In every sense I am proud of myself, because I do not cause hurt or grievance to others, nor do I pretend to be something I am not.
Babbitty is quick as a spring hare, as sprightly as an elf. Her position as washerwoman of the complex is one that allows her a great deal of authority, as there are many commoners working as laundrymaids in her ranks, and indeed few knights would want to get on the wrong side of her and have their underclothes returned to them in delicate shades of pink. Her heart is given away all too quickly when it comes to men, the only way to heal her pain being to move on to another romantic dream. It has given her perspective at the least and compassion at the most. Babbitty will spare you no illusion but will tell you honestly what you might not want to hear, no matter if you are king or court fool. It comes with the territory of difficult stains, although there isn’t a charm or two that hasn’t helped ease the bothersome ones off her tablecloths. Her relationship with the current King Lambert is one of live and let live. He hasn’t done much yet to disappoint the English, but his office has only lasted a few months. He has the look about him of a confused child, and Babbitty can’t help but take pity on the poor man when and if their paths ever cross. She might be an unofficial spokesperson for her people, be that the common class or the magical, but her golden rule follows that grudges will be forgiven when a lesson is learned. And indeed she will ensure it is learned well.
